Studio Recital

As I teach and put my kids on a performance, I gain a better understanding of a teacher's heart.

You would be more nervous than the kids when they are performing. XP

Today and tomorrow are my studio's semi-annual recitals. I have 9 kids performing (3 of them are yet to perform tomorrow). For about half of them I have to go on stage and sit or play with them. While I watched some of them played today, I was afraid that they would forget everything I had told them to do. I was even more nervous when I played and sang for one of the kids because I did not want to screw up the overall performance.

One of the things I really like about my job is our loose curriculum. We teach music in different genres, which includes worship songs if the kids or the teacher desire. So today, one of my kids played a worship song with his sister, and two teachers including myself at the recital. It doesn't happen very often in a performance setting. Isn't it amazing?

Anyhow, all of my kids did very well today. *applause*
